Valdosta native earns All-Conference recognition

MADISON, S.D. — Former Valdosta Wildcat Perry King was selected to the inaugural North Star Athletic Association Football All-Conference first team for his play with the Dakota State Trojans, announced Wednesday.

King played for the Wildcats as a high school student from 2004 - 2008 as a wide recevier and linebacker.

After graduating from Valdosta, King continued his playing career as a linebacker at William Penn University.

A year ago, King made one more stop, this time at Dakota State where as a senior linebacker/kickoff returner King was able to earn a spot on 1st team All-Conference.

King ranks eighth in the nation in total kick-off returns of 703 yards.

He set a new DSU school record for most kick-off return yards, breaking the previous old mark of 669 yards set by Tard Smith in 1993.

King averaged 18.0 yards per kickoff return.

King’s highlight came on Aug. 31 at Peru State (Neb.) where he recorded the second most kickoff return yards of 154 yards.

Defensively, King had 61 tackles – 20 solo tackles and 41 assist tackles.

He had 4.5 tackles-for-loss of 19.2 yards, including a quarterback sack (for loss of 8 yards).

King recorded a forced fumble and a blocked kick.

Perry is the son of Perry King, Sr. and Beverly Pendleton and he is a senior Exercise Science major at Dakota State University.
