Trappers return to Atlanta suburb in hunt for hogs

ATLANTA — Trappers are continuing their hunt for some large feral hogs which are scaring children and adults in a suburban Atlanta neighborhood.

Authorities Wednesday morning returned to the subdivision in the Lithonia area -- about 17 miles east of downtown Atlanta -- to try and trap the hogs. DeKalb County police have enlisted the help of a trapper in that effort.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that 17-year-old Demarques Williams and his six siblings got a scare Monday evening when they tried to chase a wild hog out of their backyard. The teen said the hog chased the children back into their house.

Charlie Killmaster, a deer and feral hog biologist with the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, said feral hogs can be dangerous if they are cornered.
