VALDOSTA — Valdosta Police Department released this statement this afternoon:
This morning Antoni Jevon Tippins, a.k.a. “Snapper” turned himself in at the Valdosta Police Department. An arrest warrant had been issued on Tippins for the July 30, 2013 murder of Jarid Little, who was shot and killed while standing outside of the Gordon Food Mart at 209 West Gordon Street. An arrest warrant for an aggravated assault had also been issued on Tippins for an incident that occurred earlier that same day in the 100 block of East Martin Luther King Drive. Tippins was transported to the Lowndes County Jail.
On July 30, 2013, 24 year old Valdosta resident Jarid Little was shot and killed while standing outside of the Gordon Food Mart at 209 West Gordon Street at approximately 6:30 tcpm. Witness reported seeing a dark colored SUV pull into the parking lot, an African American male exited the passenger side of the vehicle and fired a handgun at Little who was struck by the gunfire. The offenders left the scene in the dark colored SUV immediately. Little was transported to South Georgia Medical Center where he subsequently passed away from his wounds. No other individuals were injured. A murder warrant has been issued for Antoni Jevon Tippins, a.k.a. “Snapper”, 31 year old African American male, Valdosta resident for this homicide. At this time, a motive has not been established.
Detectives and Crime Laboratory personnel are still investigating this homicide. Tippins has not been apprehended. If you see him or know his whereabouts, do not approach him or contact him. Tippins is considered armed and dangerous, therefore; contact your local law enforcement authorities immediately if you have any knowledge of the whereabouts of Tippins.
At this time, the possibility of this case being related to the aggravated assaults on West Martin Luther King Drive and East Jane Street is being investigated but not confirmed.
