I-75 semi collision leaves one dead

CECIL — A collision of two semi tractor-trailers on I-75 at Exit 32 left one driver dead Wednesday. At around noon, a semi heading southbound on I-75 ran into the rear of another semi, leaving the front of the first cab completely crushed.

The driver of the rear truck was pronounced dead on the scene, while the driver of the front semi was transported via ambulance to South Georgia Medical Center for injuries.

Given the severity of the collision, the GSP believes there was a major difference in speed between the two trucks, but the cause of the incident is still under investigation, according to Sergeant First Class Stan Stalnaker.

"We're trying to figure out if the first truck was traveling above the minimum speed limit," Stalnaker said.
