Festival-goers will be missing treats after a sweet-toothed bandit made off with a truckload of candy.
Friday afternoon, drivers with PCS Trucking parked at the Valdosta State University Maintenance Facility across from Jac’s Bowling Lanes on Connell Road, according to Jon Kuiper, PCS trucking manager
The 53-foot dry van trailer was carrying $125,000 worth of candy destined for the Pensacola Interstate Fair in Florida which begins Thursday.
“They dropped the trailer and took the truck and went to the hospital because one of the drivers got sick,” said Kuiper.
One of the drivers returned to the trailer several times over the weekend, but it went missing sometime between 3 p.m. Sunday and 11 a.m. Monday, according to Kuiper.
“PCS Trucking is on the front and the rear of the trailer. It used to belong to TRL, and you can still see the faded lettering,” said Kuiper.
A BOLO (Be On the Lookout) was issued to area law enforcement agencies, and the trailer was entered as stolen in the Georgia Crime Information Center, according to Valdosta police. Detectives continue to investigate.
