Forecasters issue flood watch in Ga.

ATLANTA — The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch covering much of the state.

Forecasters say a flood watch is in effect from 8 p.m. Sunday and is expected to expire late Monday night. The flood watch includes most parts of north, middle and western Georgia.

Meteorologists say rainfall is expected to grow heavier overnight in some areas and that 2 to 3 inches of rainfall is possible in some regions. Forecasters say the runoff could cause significant water level rises in creeks and rivers, especially in flood prone areas.
