VALDOSTA —

Valdosta Police Department issued the following statement this morning:

Police are seeking the public’s help in solving the robbery and homicide of Kenwaljit Serai, who was shot while working at the Ashley Beauty Supply at 1507 B North Ashley Street during the evening of May 10, 2013.  A person who came into the store that evening found Serai deceased inside the business.  Authorities were notified and responded to the scene.  Serai had lived in Valdosta for several years and was married and had children.

May 10, 2013 was a Friday evening and the crime occurred somewhere between 9:30 pm and 10 pm.  That part of Ashley Street is a fairly busy area on a Friday evening so we are hoping that someone saw something that will help propel the investigation forward.  Also, if anyone has heard anyone speaking of the crime or giving information on the crime, please do not hesitate to share that information with law enforcement.

Valdosta Police Department Detectives have been constantly working to follow up leads and keep the investigation going strong.  A $2,500 reward is being offered by the department for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible for the death of Mr. Serai.  We urge anyone with any information regarding this incident to contact the Valdosta Police Department.  You can remain anonymous by calling the crime tip line at 229-293-3091 or you speak to the case detective, Detective Sabrina Smith by calling 229-293-3111.
