Ga. baby drowned before being buried

MACON, Ga. — An autopsy has revealed that a newborn baby who was found in a shallow grave in middle Georgia drowned before being buried.

The Telegraph of Macon reports the baby was found buried on Oct. 17. Authorities say 23-year-old Brittany Palmer was arrested on charges of concealing a death and giving false statements after her father discovered the buried baby.

Baldwin County Sheriff’s officials say Palmer delivered the baby alone in a bathtub then buried the child. Authorities say the woman’s relatives did not know she was pregnant.

The newspaper reports Palmer was released Nov. 16 on $10,000 bond.
