MOODY AFB — The booms or explosions you may hear this week are nothing to be concerned about, according to officials at Moody Air Force Base.

The 23d Civil Engineer Squadron explosive ordnance disposal team will detonate numerous munitions at Grand Bay Bombing and Gunnery Range on Wednesday, April 9 between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m.

The detonations that may be heard throughout the Valdosta and surrounding areas are part of the routine controlled reduction of unexploded munitions being overseen by Moody explosive ordnance specialists.

Military personnel regularly use the range and its surrounding airspace for tactical air and ground maneuvers as well as weapons training.

The U.S. Air Force Reserve also uses the range and airspace on specified weekends.
