Winds topple Lowndes trees, cause damage

VALDOSTA —

Trees have been reported down across the county with particular focus on the southern portions of the county. Trees have also been reported down on I-75 from the 10 mile marker south. Reports came in around 9:30 about possible tornados around Beaver Run, White Water Road area. Based on the preliminary data, the City of Valdosta believes that these were actually straight-line winds that can cause similar damage to a tornado. Power lines are down all around the county so use caution. Please stay indoors until the storm has passed.
