Ga. man charged in death of girlfriend, fetus

DECATUR, Ga. — A metro Atlanta man charged in the death of his pregnant girlfriend has also been charged in the death of her unborn fetus.

DeKalb County prosecutors tell the Atlanta Journal-Constitution (http://bit.ly/17Xuzuf ) 23-year-old Carlos Jerome Simpson was indicted Tuesday by a grand jury on charges of murder, felony murder, aggravated assault and possession of a gun during the commission of a felony. Simpson is also charged with feticide and could face up to life in prison.

Authorities say Simpson fatally shot his 20-year-old girlfriend, Shikira Dunson, in mid-February. Officials say Dunson was five months pregnant when she was killed.

Simpson is being held without bond in the DeKalb County Jail and it is unclear if he has an attorney.
