Suspect in GA convenience store slaying in custody

DALTON, Ga. — Authorities say a woman suspected in the death of a northwest Georgia convenience store clerk has been taken into custody.

U.S. Marshals Service spokesman Gavin Duffy says the 21-year-old woman was taken into custody in Bartow County on Tuesday.

Whitfield County sheriff’s deputies responded to a service station on Airport Road in Dalton on Sunday night and found 37-year-old Dahyabhai Chaudhari dead on the floor. Officials have said the clerk was an Indian citizen, in the U.S. on a work visa.

Investigators have said the suspect’s last known address is in Detroit, and investigators were pursuing her on warrants for murder and armed robbery. It wasn’t immediately clear if charges had officially been filed against the woman Tuesday night.
