Valdosta convenience store robbed; gunman arrested

VALDOSTA — On August 26, 2013 at approximately 1300 hours, the 1 Stop Convenience Store located at 521 West Gordon Street was robbed by an offender with a handgun.  The offender took an undisclosed amount of cash and fled the store.  911 was immediately notified and Valdosta police units in the area spotted the suspect running away from the store’s location.  A foot chase ensued and the suspect was detained in the 400 block of West Gordon Street . Cash and a handgun were recovered and the offender was placed into custody.  He is currently being questioned by police personnel.  The identity of the offender has not yet been released nor has the charges against the suspect. 

No one was injured during this incident.

An update will be provided when the suspect identity is released and the criminal charges against the suspect.
