Update: I-75 stop leads to confiscation of $800,000 in cocaine

VALDOSTA —

On August 22, 2013 at approximately 12:58 AM a deputy with the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office I.C.E. (Interstate Criminal Enforcement) team stopped a 2007 Ford Taurus on I 75 at the 14 mile marker.  The driver, Glenn Cruz of Homestead, Florida was operating the vehicle with a suspended license. A consensual search of the car led to the discovery of a hidden electronic compartment in the roof.  Concealed within the compartment were eight heat sealed kilos that field tested positive for cocaine..The eight kilos of cocaine have a street value of approximately $800,000.00.
 
A Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office investigator attached to the DEA Task Force is assisting the ICE team with the investigation.  Sheriff Prine said that he would like to thank the men and women of the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office for the hard work that they do in keeping Lowndes County safe.
