Valdosta man arrested after drugs delivered to house

VALDOSTA — The Valdosta Police Department’s Narcotics Unit and the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office arrested a suspect Friday after receiving a tip regarding drugs being delivered to a 1300 block River Street residence.

Upon the drugs being delivered to the residence, authorities made the arrest and confiscated 995.4 grams of marijuana, with an estimated street value of $19,908, said Valdosta Police Chief Brian Childress.

Kevin Mitchell, 53, of Valdosta is charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana, Childress said.

Both the VPD and LCSO worked the case as a joint investigation.

“This was a great team effort by the police department and sheriff’s office to intercept a large amount of illegal drugs before those drugs were allowed to poison our community,” Childress said. “I am very proud of the officers and deputies in this case.”
