At their monthly meeting Wednesday morning, the Valdosta-Lowndes County Tourism Authority received the audit findings for fiscal year 2012-2013.
“It was a fairly good year, given the way things are,” said H. Harrison Tillman, CPA. “[The] Conference Center is moving forward and gaining momentum.”
In his General Manager’s report, Tim Riddle highlighted the increase over the last year in advertising spending and the recent uptick in Clicks per Impression (CPI), which measures the number of click-throughs online ads receive through Google’s AdWords. The Rainwater Conference Center has a 1.37 percent CPI over the current period and a 1.23 percent CPI overall.
The Visit Valdosta site has seen a 96.5 percent increase in leads, thanks in part to being tagged with better keywords and improving the functionality of the site.
The Authority also discussed the upcoming Family Reunion workshop at the Rainwater in October, as well as looking into the possibility of donating unused food to local food shelters.
“We’re open to any agreement if they want to talk to us,” said Riddle.
The next meeting of the Valdosta-Lowndes County Tourism Authority is scheduled for March 26 at 8 a.m. in the Rainwater Conference Center. It is open to the public.
