Employer seminar planned

VALDOSTA — The Georgia Department of Labor’s (GDOL) Valdosta Career Center will host an employer seminar on current labor laws next week in Lowndes County. It will be held Friday, Feb. 28, from 9 a.m. to 12 noon at the career center, 221 South Ashley St. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m., along with a continental breakfast.  Entitled Breaking News for 2014 – What HR Can Expect in Labor and Employment, the seminar will be led by Jeff Thompson of Macon, a partner in the law firm Constangy, Brooks and Smith, LLP. It focuses on recent developments in employment law, social media, health care reform, and how to respond to government enforcement.

The seminar is designed for business owners, managers, human resource personnel, and other professionals interested in labor laws.

The fee for the seminar is $15 for those who register by Tuesday, Feb. 25, while it is $20 for those registering after that date.
