The Valdosta Daily Times
VALDOSTA — Reports from around the area of the ground shaking and photos falling off walls in homes have been coming into the Times office for several hours. Local law enforcement stated they did not know what might be causing it, so after contacting Moody AFB, the following press release was issued:
The 23d Civil Engineer Squadron Explosives Ordnance Disposal team will clear practice ordnance from target areas at Grand Bay Bombing and Gunnery Range from Oct. 10 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The detonations are expected to be heard throughout Valdosta and surrounding areas. They are part of a controlled reduction of unexploded munitions and will be overseen by Moody explosives ordnance specialists.
Grand Bay Bombing and Gunnery Range is used by military aircrew and ground personnel regularly for tactical and ground maneuvers and weapons training.
