VALDOSTA — Authorities continue searching for a gunman who robbed a 90-year-old woman Monday afternoon along the 5000 block of North Oak Street Extension, according to the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office today.

Authorities describe the offender as a black male, in his mid to late 20s, wearing a “red-in-color” shirt, dark long pants, and had short to medium-length hair.

At approximately 2 p.m. Monday, April 8, a 90-year-old woman was working outside of her 5000 block North Oak Street Extension home. A man she did not know approached her. The man carried a handgun. He demanded money from the 90-year-old woman, according to the sheriff’s office.

He followed the woman into her house. He took cash then fled the area on foot.

A Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office K-9 unit sought a scent for the offender but was unable to follow a track for any distance. Sheriff’s investigators and crime-scene personnel worked the scene, seeking leads.
