Resident holds suspect at gunpoint in Valdosta burglary

VALDOSTA — Man came home to his Pebblewood Drive residence, and walked in and saw two male suspects in progress of burglarizing his residence.

He detained one suspect with a weapon, and the other suspect ran out the back.

The VPD had one suspect detained, while they were searching for the other in a heavily wooded area with a Lowndes County K-9 unit.

Police Chief Brian Childress said, "The citizen did the right thing by calling 911 and informing the VPD of the crime in progress."

The police department recovered some property including electronics, various coin currency, and multiple firearms.

The other suspect was detained a short time later.

Childress said the no one was injured during the incident.
