Third suspect arrested in Lowndes chase wreck

VALDOSTA — The third person in the vehicle which fled from deputies on Thursday, June 20, was released from South Georgia Medical Center and subsequently arrested and transported to the Lowndes County Jail, according to the Lowndes County Sheriff's Office. Brandon Marquis Smith has appeared for an arraignment hearing and his bond was denied.

The investigation into the credit cards and driver license that were recovered is continuing as investigators are still attempting to contact some of the victims.

Brandon Marquis Smith, 22, of Hollywood, Fla., is charged with financial transaction card theft, failure to wear a seatbelt, according to reports.

Brandon Smith is also being sought by the Broward County, Fla., Sheriff’s Office for an outstanding arrest warrant. A hold has been placed on Brandon Smith by that agency and he will be returned to Florida when the charges here are either disposed of or he is released on bond.
