Homerville man shot in Valdosta

VALDOSTA — Valdosta Police Department has issued the following report this morning:

On September 22, 2013 at approximately 9:15 pm, officers responded to South Georgia Medical Center where a male had come into the hospital emergency room for treatment of a gunshot wound.  Upon arrival, police spoke with a 29 year old  (man) from Homerville, Georgia who had been shot in the torso area.  Mincey was driven to the hospital in a private vehicle.   VPD Detectives and Crime Laboratory personnel responded to the alleged incident scene, the parking lot of 1635 East Park Avenue.  After speaking with multiple residents, it was determined that the victim was speaking with some other males in the parking lot when the shot was fired.  Detectives are still investigating the incident.  At this time the motive for the shooting has not been established.  The victim is in stable condition in the hospital.  Anyone having any information regarding this incident is urged to contact the VPD Bureau of Investigations at 229-293-3145.
