Man sets himself ablaze inside Covington Kroger

COVINGTON, Ga. — Covington police say charges will likely be filed against a man who lit himself on fire inside a local grocery store.

Police Capt. Ken Malcolm tells the Covington News (http://bit.ly/MaHj9B ) a man ran through a Kroger store pulling items from the shelves and throwing them to the ground before dousing himself in rubbing alcohol Tuesday afternoon.

Malcolm says the man lunged at officers and lit himself ablaze. Police were able to quickly extinguish the man and three suffered minor injuries.

Malcolm says the man has been taken to the Newton Medical Center. Investigators are unsure of why the man lit himself on fire.

Covington is about 35 miles east of downtown Atlanta.
