VALDOSTA — A man was arrested inside the store he was attempting to rob Wednesday afternoon.
According to Commander Brian Childress of the Valdosta Police Department, officers responding to a 911 call at the Citgo convenience store on W. Hill Ave. around 5:30 p.m. found Isaac Price, 20, still inside the store.
Price entered the store and demanded money from the clerks, according to Childress. When they were "too slow," he grabbed the cash register and was attempting to open it when officers arrived, he said, adding that Price did not have a weapon and the clerks and customers were not injured.
Price was taken into custody and charged with criminal attempt to commit robbery, criminal damage to property and shoplifting, said Childress.
Asked about the shoplifting charge as Price was arrested while he was still in the store, Childress said, "In addition to the attempted robbery, Price at one point walked over to a cooler, pulled out an orange drink and drank it. He had no means of paying for the drink."
The Valdosta Police Department, Georgia State Patrol and Lowndes County Sheriff's deputies all responded to the 911 call, said Childress.
