Condemned murderer Hill declines special last meal

FORSYTH, Ga. — FORSYTH, Ga. – Condemned murderer Warren Lee Hill is scheduled for execution by lethal injection at 7 p.m.

on Monday, July 15, 2013, at Georgia Diagnostic and Classification Prison in Jackson. Hill was sentenced to

death for the 1991 murder of Joseph Handspike.  

 

Media witnesses for the execution are: Christina Cassidy, The Associated Press; Scott Kimbler, WYAY;

Rhonda Cook, The Atlanta Journal Constitution and Daniel Beauregard, The Champion.

 

Hill declined to request a special last meal, he instead will be offered the institution’s meal tray, consisting of 

chuck wagon pattie, brown gravy, mashed potatoes, dry pinto beans, peas and carrots, corn bread, cake and ice

tea.

 

There have been 53 men executed in Georgia since the U.S. Supreme Court reinstated the death penalty in

1973. If executed, Hill will be the 31st inmate put to death by lethal injection. There are presently 92 men and

one woman under death sentence in Georgia.

 

The Georgia Diagnostic and Classification Prison is located 45 minutes south of Atlanta off Interstate 75. From

Atlanta, take exit 201 (Ga. Hwy. 36), turn left over the bridge and go approximately ¼ mile. The entrance to the

prison is on the left. Media covering the execution will be allowed on GDCP property beginning at 5 p.m. on

Monday.
