Parade of Champions Goes On Today As Scheduled

From the City of Valdosta

VALDOSTA — Event planners confirmed at noon today that the Parade of Champions will go on as scheduled.  Citizens are invited to cheer on the NCAA Division II national championship teams anywhere along the parade route.

The parade will start at 4 p.m. in front of Mathis Auditorium (located at 2300 Ashley Street), travel west on Woodrow Wilson Drive, travel south down Patterson Street, and conclude at Drexel Park.

At the conclusion of the parade, Valdosta City Mayor John Gayle and Lowndes County Board of Commissioners Chairman Bill Slaughter, Jr. will issue a joint proclamation, followed by brief remarks by VSU President William J. McKinney and the team coaches.

Beginning at 3 p.m., Woodrow Wilson Drive will be closed from Ashley Street to Williams Street.  All other parts of Woodrow Wilson Drive will remain open until the Parade of Champions steps off at 4 p.m.

Come out this afternoon and support our winning teams at the Parade of Champions!
