VALDOSTA — Valdosta police discovered a body at the Jolly Inn on St. Augustine Road today, but say that the man died of natural causes.

Jeffery Bobbin, 48, was found dead in his hotel room after hotel management called the Valdosta Police Department to do a welfare check. Management had not heard from Bobbin in several days, said Valdosta Police Cmdr. Brian Childress.

Police arrived on scene at approximately 12:30 p.m., but Bobbin did not respond to calls. Officers forced entry into the room, where he was found, Childress said.

The VPD have been in contact with Bobbin’s doctor, who reported that Bobbin suffered from a multitude of health problems, including cardiac issues, and he was confined to a wheelchair, Childress said.

Given Bobbin’s medical history and the lack of trauma to the body, police have ruled out foul play and believe he died of natural causes. In these circumstances, it is unlikely the Georgia Bureau of Investigation will conduct an autopsy on the body, Childress said.
