Georgia Power officials say a storm along the coast left thousands of customers in the dark.
Georgia Power representatives said about 10,000 customers lost power as the storm system crossed the area Monday night. Georgia Power officials said service had been restored to about 2,500 customers as of 9:30 p.m., and crews were working to address 110 separate outages.
The Savannah Morning News (http://bit.ly/107hFsD) reports outages were reported in Pooler, Bloomingdale, Port Wentworth, western Chatham County, Bryan County and Effingham County.
Authorities say downed trees prompted several road closures and sheriff’s officials suggested people avoid driving if possible until roads were cleared of debris.
