Store helps school with books

VALDOSTA — The saying goes, “If you can read this, thank a teacher.” Quotes like this highlight the importance of reading, making it clear that without the ability to read, society wouldn’t be able to accomplish much.

It is with this understanding that Books-A-Million has decided to hold annual drives to collect books or toys for a school or organization in need.

For this year’s book drive, Books-A-Million chose J.L. Newbern Middle School.

Paige Berry, media specialist at Newbern Middle, said, “The books will help supplement our library collection at Newbern Middle School, and we will use it for our upcoming book club next school year.”

Anyone interested in purchasing books to help benefit Newbern Middle can stop by Books-A-Million, go to the front desk and purchase a book from the selected titles to be donated. They will then hold the books and present them to the school following the drive.

Berry shared the excitement of the school saying, “We are very excited about this project and look forward to receiving lots of books for next school year!”

The book collection is currently going on and will end on July 5.

Books-A-Million is located at 1705 Norman Drive.
