Man arrested in aggravated assault case

-- — A heated domestic dispute turned violent Thursday resulting in an arrest on aggravated assault and gun charges, according to the Valdosta Police Department Friday.

At approximately 2:48 p.m., Valdosta police responded to an apartment complex in the 1800 block of Eastwind Road in reference to a reported physical dispute involving a man and the mother of his children, said Valdosta Police Lt. Aaron Kirk.

At some point during the altercation, the man reportedly grabbed the mother by the hair and pulled her into a bedroom. Her daughter attempted to intervene, but the man retrieved a gun and pointed it at the her, Kirk said. The man then struck the mother in the back with the gun, leaving marks, and fled, according to reports.

A description of the man’s vehicle was given to officers, and a suspect was apprehended shortly after the incident.

Caleb Davis, 22, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault and battery, reports stated. During the investigation, it was discovered that the gun used was stolen, and Davis was also charged with theft by receiving stolen property, reports stated.
