Lowndes sheriff's deputies make cocaine arrest

VALDOSTA —

Lowndes County Sheriff's Office released this statement this morning: 
 
This morning, shortly after midnight, investigators from the Special Operations Division of the Sheriff’s Office conducted a search of the residence at 2014 Bradley Street, Valdosta. During this search investigators located a small amount of cocaine, a loaded .357 handgun and items used for the distribution of cocaine such as scales and plastic baggies. The resident, Donnell Mathis was arrested.
Additional investigation revealed that Donnell Mathis is a convicted felon and therefore barred by law from possessing any firearms. Donnell Mathis was arrested and taken to the Lowndes County Jail.
