Officer, wife hurt in parade crash return to Ga.

HOLLY SPRINGS, Ga. — Friends of a Holly Springs police officer and his wife say they’ve returned home to Georgia after both were injured when a train collided with a float carrying wounded veterans during a Texas parade.

The couple’s friend Susan Greene tells WSB-TV (http://bit.ly/SKFai3) that Officer Shane Ladner and his wife Meg returned to Georgia Monday night.

Holly Springs police spokeswoman Tanya Anderson said Ladner, a two-year department veteran, and Meg Ladner had been hospitalized after the Thursday accident, which left four dead and several more injured.

Anderson said Ladner was treated and released, and that his wife’s leg had to be amputated. Greene said her pelvis was also crushed, and she was being taken to Atlanta Medical Center for further treatment.
