A former Hewlett-Packard employee has been sentenced to 20 years in prison after pleading guilty to stealing roughly $9 million in Medicaid payments.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution (http://bit.ly/URkZjC ) reports Romona Ferrell-Davis, who worked as a Hewlett-Packard fiscal intermediary serving the Georgia Department of Community Health, changed routing and account numbers of four Medicaid providers to direct the money to accounts she controlled.
Authorities say Ferrell-Davis used her access to the Georgia Medicaid Management Information System at Hewlett-Packard to route the money to two prepaid debit card accounts. Money was also routed to a third account in the name of a Medicaid member whose information was accessed without prior authorization.
Ferrell-Davis pleaded guilty in DeKalb County Superior Court to four counts of computer theft, computer invasion of privacy and identity fraud.
