With less than two months to the 2013 Azalea Festival, organizers continue seeking additional sponsors.
“The more sponsorships we have, the more we can offer during the Azalea Festival,” said Aaron Strickland, the festival’s executive director.
He lists some of the attractions and their costs for this year’s Azalea Festival: Frisbee K-9s, approximately $2,500; inflatable children’s attractions, approximately $2,900; area bands and other entertainment, approximately $3,000.
While the festival has funds for these scheduled events, sponsors picking up the tab for one or all of these events means the festival has additional funds for other activities and can put more money into marketing, Strickland says.
“There’s no danger of the festival not happening,” Strickland says, “but sponsors ease the load.”
The 2013 Azalea Festival is scheduled for March 9, 10, in Drexel Park. The annual festival attracts approximately 20,000 people during the two-day event.
Strickland needs to have the sponsors committed by Jan. 28 to include them in the festival’s promotional materials.
The festival also seeks more arts & crafts vendors. Strickland has a full booking of food vendors but has additional spaces available for crafts vendors.
Wild Adventures will provide an element of this year’s entertainment. The theme park will present animal encounters and activities, Strickland says.
This year’s festival will include a motorcycle show on Saturday, March 9, and a car show on Sunday, March 10.
