GA man, 84, sentenced on child molestation charges

PERRY, Ga. — An 84-year-old middle Georgia man has been sentenced to eight years in prison on child molestation charges.

The Telegraph of Macon reported Monday (http://bit.ly/1aYT6T6) that retired Robins Air Force Base deputy division chief Shelly Simmons Sr. admitted to molesting four girls who were between 9 and 12 at the time. Three of the victims are now adults.

During his hearing, Simmons apologized to the victims. His attorney, Franklin Hogue, says the sentencing didn’t surprise him and the only hope his client has at this point is parole.
