Ga. corrections officer guilty of drinking on job

MACON, Ga. — Prosecutors in middle Georgia say a former corrections officer has pleaded guilty to crossing the guard line with alcohol and violating his oath of office.

The Telegraph of Macon (http://bit.ly/1bNuMRL ) reported Monday that 23-year-old Paris Dewayne Watson admitted to keeping bottles of vodka and Crown Royal at the facility for personal consumption. Authorities have said the liquor was stored in plastic Coca-Cola and Powerade bottles, and officials found them in late September and he was fired shortly afterward. Watson has said he asked another officer to bring the bag inside the guard line and that he drank on the job in the past.

Waton is sentenced to four years of probation and must surrender his Peace Officer Standards and Training Certificate.

The second officer’s case is pending.
