VALDOSTA — Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office’s Special Operations Division arrested a Valdosta man this morning on multiple drug charges upon executing a search warrant in what is described as a normally quiet residential neighborhood.

At approximately 8:30 a.m. today, authorities served a search warrant on a residence on the corner of Dellwood Drive Circle and Young Drive, off Jerry Jones Drive, according to the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office.

LCSO officials, the FBI’s Gang Task Force and Valdosta probation office representatives converged on the scene. Authorities used concussive devices to enter the residence, causing a quick series of three explosive sounds.

Deputies arrested one individual, Machari Nelson, 35, on several drug charges; he is in the Lowndes County Jail. Additional arrests may be forthcoming, according to the sheriff’s office.

The search warrant followed a six-week investigation.
