Ga. state agencies offer jobs for veterans

GLENNVILLE, Ga. — A multitude of Georgia state agencies are reaching out to veterans who are looking for work.

Board of Pardons and Paroles Spokesman Steve Hayes says his agency, along with the state Department of Corrections, Department of Defense and National Guard, are hosting a job fair for veterans returning from duty on April 17. Hayes says the state Department of Juvenile Justice, Public Safety and Natural Resources are also slated to be represented.

Hayes says departments will have personnel on hand to answer questions from potential applicants, and the agencies are collectively offering about 800 jobs.

The event is free and open to veterans who register online. The fair is being held at the National Guard Armory in Glennville. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
