Controlled detonations by Moody AFB Explosives Ordnance Disposal team

MOODY AIR FORCE BASE, Ga. — The 23d Civil Engineer Squadron Explosives Ordnance Disposal team will detonate numerous munitions today at Grand Bay Bombing and Gunnery Range.

The detonations being heard throughout the Valdosta and surrounding areas are part of an annual controlled reduction of unexploded munitions being overseen by Moody explosives ordnance specialists. The EOD team will conduct further controlled detonations throughout the day.

Military personnel regularly use the range and its surrounding airspace Monday to Friday during various hours for tactical air and ground maneuvers as well as weapons training.

The U.S. Air Force Reserves also use the range and airspace on specified weekends.
