CARROLLTON, Ga. — Officials in a central Georgia school system have approved plans to equip some school buses with cameras to photograph drivers who don’t stop.

The Houston County school board on Tuesday unanimously approved equipping school bus stop arms with the cameras.

The Telegraph reports ( that the cameras will be installed in 20 buses at no cost to the school district.

Arizona-based American Traffic Solutions will cover the installation and maintenance of the cameras, and revenue from violator fees will be split between the company, Houston County schools and the Houston County Sheriff’s Office.

Houston County is the most recent Georgia school system to add cameras to school buses. Other Georgia districts with school bus cameras include Carroll County, Cobb County, Newton County and Muscogee County.
