Flooding threat, dam monitored in southeast Ga

SAVANNAH, Ga. — Authorities are warning of flooding and a potential dam failure in southeast Georgia.

Chatham County emergency managers say an 80-acre pond in Screven County is overloaded and could fail at any time.

The Savannah Morning News (http://bit.ly/12w789V ) reported Saturday that residents along the Ogeechee River could be affected, and water already is being released into the stream.

Some residents already are being urged to evacuate.

Savannah-Chatham police spokesman Julian Miller says officials are working to identify all the areas that could be affected.
