Coretta Haddin scored 11 points and the Lowndes Vikettes secured their first victory of the season Saturday, beating Tattnall County 45-31.
Lowndes used a big 16-point third quarter to balance out a first half that featured the Vikettes scoring just 12 points. In the third quarter, six different Vikettes scored, including Haddin, who had four points in the frame. Lexus Miller and Asha Jordan-Hayes each added seven points in the win. Lowndes (1-1) hosts Griffin Monday night at 7 p.m. in the 8th Annual Charles Cooper Memorial Tip-Off.
Vikings earn first win
REIDSVILLE — The Lowndes boys basketball team earned its first win of the young season Saturday night, beating Tattnall County 80-75.
Seniors Tremayne Tippins and Justin Williams led the way. Tippins finished with a team-high 28 points and 12 rebounds, while Williams added 19 points. Lowndes is 1-1 and will host Griffin Monday night and Howard Tuesday night in the Cooper Memorial Tip-Off tournament.
