— Due to poor field conditions following heavy downpours voernight in Livingston, Ala., the Valdosta State baseball and softball teams had their series finales at West Alabama canceled Sunday.

There are currently no plans to reschedule the games.

The VSU baseball team, ranked No. 8 in the country, splits its series with the Tigers, winning Saturday’s first game 1-0 before falling 10-5 in the nightcap. That leaves the Blazers 15-6 overall and 8-5 in the Gulf South Conference, where VSU sits fourth in the standings.

Valdosta State travels to face Flagler in St. Augustine, Fla., at 5 p.m. Tuesday. The Blazers then host Christian Brothers on Saturday and Sunday in a conference series.

The VSU softball team, though, swept its two-game series with West Alabama. The Blazers rallied past the Tigers 9-6 in Game 1 before rolling to a 10-1 win in Game 2. Valdosta State is now 21-8 and 8-5 in the GSC, where it sits fourth, one-half game behind Alabama-Huntsville and one-half game in front of West Florida.

VSU hosts Miles at Steel’s Diamond on Tuesday in a 4 p.m. doubleheader. Christian Brothers then visits Saturday and Sunday for a three-game GSC set.
