VALDOSTA — Francis Lake Golf Club in Lake Park will host the Kari Holm Pancreatic Cancer fundraising golf tournament on Feb. 28.

The event was established to help raise money for the Kari Holm Fund and the Local Partnership Cancer Fund.

The Kari Holm Fund was established after Valdosta native Kari Holm was diagnosed with Stage 4 pancreatic cancer last year. Through the fund, Holm and her children receive financial assistance to help offset the overwhelming cost of fighting cancer.

Holm is a widowed mother and longtime resident of Valdosta. She currently undergoes extensive chemotherapy treatment at South Georgia Medical Center in Valdosta. She works at the Wooden Nickel Pub, where she is a waitress.

The fundraising golf event will feature several prizes. Valdosta Toyota will award a new 2013 Camry for a hole-in-one on the par-3 17th hole.

A $1,500 jewelry store shopping spree will be awarded to participants for closest to the pin on No. 18.

A $250 gift card from Golfsmith will be awarded for a hole-in-one on a par-3 hole, yet to be determined.

A set of Cleveland Black Pearl irons will be awarded for a hole-in-one on another par-3 hole, also yet to be determined.

A Cleveland Black Pearl driver will also be given away for a hole-in-one shot.

The cost for a four-person team in the event is $260, and all proceeds will be split equally between the two funds.

Lunch is also included in the tournament cost.

Persons can also donate directly to the cancer funds, without playing in the golf tournament.

Donations may be made by filling out a deposit slip at any Bank of America location in Valdosta, according to tournament informational guides.
