Georgia Christian’s basketball teams defeated Grace Christian on Friday night at Elrod Gymnasium.
C.J. Lynch scored 27 points, leading Georgia Christian’s boys to a 69-65 win. Jeremiah Beverly added 20 points.
Georgia Christian’s girls won 51-39. Haley Garrett led the Lady Generals with 21 points. Lindsey Levings added 10.
On Tuesday, the Lady Generals defeated Fullington Academy 41-32 in Pinehurst. Devon Bordelon led Georgia Christian with nine points.
The GCS boys fell 54-51 to Fullington. Beverly led Georgia Christian with 17 points. Lynch scored 12 points and Josiah Vaughn added 10.
Georgia Christian travels to Westwood on Monday and Highland Christian on Tuesday.
Valwood beats SGA
DAMASCUS — Valwood’s boys basketball team won its region opener on Thursday night, defeating Southwest Georgia Academy 44-29.
Rashad Mathis led the Valiants (6-3) with 17 points and 11 rebounds. Zack Savino also had a double-double, with 11 points and 13 rebounds.
Valwood’s girls lost 41-38 to SGA. Hollis Waldron led the Lady Valiants with nine points.
Valwood’s middle school girls team beat SGA 38-16. Ashley Manwell scored 15 points for the Lady Valiants, while Evelyn Howell added nine.
Valwood travels to Albany to play Sherwood Christian on Tuesday.
Lowndes goes 1-2 at state duals
MACON — The Lowndes wrestling team went 1-2 at the Class 6A state dual wrestling tournament at the Macon Coliseum.
The Vikings lost their first dual match 62-10 to Archer, the No. 1 team in 6A. Then they moved into the loser’s bracket, where they beat Kennesaw Mountain, 31-27. But they lost their next match, 33-30 to Wheeler, and were eliminated from the tournament.
Lowndes will host Berrien on Tuesday at Charles Cooper Gymnasium. It will be senior night for the Vikings.
