Fresh off spring break, the Valdosta State football team will get right to work.
The Blazers will return from the week-long break with meetings Monday and Tuesday before holding their first practice of the spring at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.
That first practice will start a span of six straight practice days for the Blazers, who will work in just helmets the first two days before adding shells March 28 and then full pads the next three days. March 31, while ending the six-day stretch without a break, will also feature Valdosta State’s first spring scrimmage, beginning at 8 p.m.
Following a day off April 1 for film study, the Blazers will be back for a full-pad workout April 2 and then a shells practice April 4 following another day off. The Blazers’ second scrimmage will be April 5 at 9 a.m.
Valdosta State then concludes its spring drills with five practices the following week — full pads on April 7 and April 9, shells on April 8 and helmets only April 10. The spring period wraps up with the spring game at 10 a.m. April 12.
The Blazers, who won the 2012 Division II national championship, are looking to rebound from a 6-4 campaign in 2013.
