VALDOSTA — Several local players signed free agent contracts with NFL teams following the conclusion of Saturday’s NFL Draft. Former Valdosta High and University of Georgia linebacker Mike Gilliard signed with the St. Louis Rams, while former Valdosta State Blazers Ryan Schraeder (OT) and Matt Pierce (CB/KR) both signed professional contracts. Schraeder will remain in the state after signing with the Atlanta Falcons. Pierce will head north after signing with the Tennessee Titans. No word was received about former Lowndes Viking Greg Reid.
