Valwood girls beat SGA

VALDOSTA — Valwood’s girls basketball team earned a 44-41 win over Southwest Georgia Academy on Tuesday.

Lanier Langdale scored 11 points and Amanda Lupo added 10 points. Kaitlin Rasmussen and Hollis Waldron added nine points each.

The Lady Valiants will be back in action on Thursday, when they host Brookwood for Senior Night. Tip-off is at 6 p.m.

Georgia Christian splits with Crisp

CORDELE — Georgia Christian’s basketball teams split with Crisp Academy on Tuesday.

The Georgia Christian boys won 56-53. C.J. Lynch scored 27 points for the Generals and grabbed 20 rebounds. Jeremiah Beverly added 14 points.

Crisp’s girls, the defending GISA Class A state champions, beat GCS 61-26. Haley Garrett led the Lady Generals with 12 points, and Lindsey Levings added nine.

Georgia Christian hosts Highland Christian on Friday.

Victory Christian wins

STATESBORO — The Victory Christian basketball teams defeated Bible Baptist Academy on Monday night.

The Lady Eagles won 40-23. Jenna Deloach, Angela Robson and Megan Chaney scored 10 points apiece. The Victory girls are now 4-1.

Victory’s boys won 50-46. Dalton Sparks led the Eagles (5-3) with 20 points. Jon Robson added 18 points.

Victory will travel to Brunswick on Thursday to face Brunswick Christian.

Highland falls to Crisp in double OT

VALDOSTA — Highland Christian’s boys basketball team lost to Crisp Academy 49-48 in double overtime.

Crisp hit a bank-in three from just inside half court at the end of the first overtime to force the game into a second overtime. Then in the second overtime, a Crisp player made a shot at the buzzer to win the game. The Eagles’ foul shooting hurt them; they missed five free throws in overtime.

Tucker Bruce led the Eagles with 21 points.

The Eagles are now 3-3 in region play.
