Berrien edges Thomasville, 6-4

THOMASVILLE — The Berrien baseball team closed out spring break in style Friday afternoon, eding the Thomasville Bulldogs 6-4 in Region 1-AA action.

The Rebels (14-3, 7-0 in Region) never trailed, building a 4-0 lead through the first four innings and then holding on late to secure the win. After Thomasville closed within one run, 4-3, with a three-run home run in the fourth inning, the Rebels added two runs in the top fifth inning to build a 6-3 lead. Thomasville could only muster on run in the sixth inning, which wasn’t enough.

Dalton McMillan earned the win for the Rebels, pitching six innings and striking out four batters. He also drove in a run for the Rebels. Hunter Garrett earned the save for the Rebels, and was also 2 for 4 with 2 runs batted in and two runs scored.

Shawn Whitt was 4 for 4 with an RBI and a run scored. Devonte Bass and Dalton Ingram each scored runs, while Travis Branham also drove in a run.
