UGA’s Malcolm Mitchell has knee surgery

ATHENS — University of Georgia wide receiver Malcolm Mitchell underwent a knee arthoscopy Friday morning at St. Mary’s Hospital to fix a torn meniscus in his right knee.

The former Region 1 Player of the Year with the Valdosta Wildcats, Mitchell was injured in the Bulldogs’ scrimmage last Saturday. Mitchell will miss today’s G-Day game and the final two practices of the spring.

Mitchell, who was second on the team in 2012 with 545 receiving yards and 40 catches, is expected to make a full recovery by time the Bulldogs open preseason camp in August.
